Cleveland city officials said red light cameras in the city seem to be effective, but the company furnishing the cameras has asked that the cameras come down.
Accordingly, they will be removed at the end of March. The firm that supplied the cameras said both it and the city have been losing money on the operation.
This red light camera thing is nothing but a scam put forth by a shady company(ies) that has promised municipalities and states big riches by collecting on these civil based penalties. When the state courts here in NC removed the profit making ability of these cameras, they disappeared overnight. So much for the argument of making the streets safer. It was a big huge lie.
I think the next thing is the company(ies) that have sold states the OBD based car inspection scam which is racking in tons of cash in administering it. It's something out that unnecessairly makes life difficult for people and doesn't provide any benefits to the automobile driving public. It's a big scam like the traffic light cameras.
Maybe they need to do what the dirt-bags in Council Bluffs Iowa do. Shorten the yellow lights to about 2-1/2 seconds - and do so in a 35 mph zone. That way drivers have to make a split-second decision to either slam on the brakes & risk being rear-ended, or run a red light.
We have them at a intersectiona sdhort distance form my house that is busy ;alot of redlights runand high accident rate. Once the camers were installed it change everything to where no runs it hardly.
In NH they have these at EZ Pay tolls. I don't have EZ pay and won't, so I take a manned booth. One day on the 4th of July no man was in the booth, so I tried to pay at the next one, but they refused and told me a picture would come in the mail, and it would have a fine.
Well it did and the fine was 26 bucks counting the toll. I called them and told the deal, sent a buck, which over all cost them a lot of money, and me an extra 40 cents for postage.. Total waste.
