Seems to be that way in many of the major Northeastern cities.

The report is simplistic - a "front brake replacement" could be as simple as just popping off the calipers, replace the pads, check the disc thickness, bada bing, bada boom.

Or, in a salt-infested environment, you might kick the party off by having to take drastic measueres to even get the road wheel off, followed by finding such a damn mess that you put on 2 loaded calipers and new discs.

And then we get into the quality/price of the parts used - all OEM Ford? Pagid pads, better than OEM?

And then we get into the increased overhead a shop has to pay, and pass on to customers, in the Eastern Peoples Republics. And the higher rent there.

It ain't apples to apples.

I'd say tourist towns/cities like Daytona Beach where Aamco, Sears auto, + firestone all wanted to rip me off real bad. I guess they look for out-of-staters figuring if you got money for vacations you have money for costly car repairs.

The sample size is too small for these results to be meaningful, anyway. It's just a PR stunt.

My experiences with auto repair in Chicago would agree with this study.
