They're crashing left and right these days (four passenger planes in 5 months!).

It's like the mass extinction event for airplanes.

I just saw the news about the plane crash in Taiwan. Didn't even hear about that until now. How sad is that - when so much turmoil in the world can shadow an event like this which would otherwise be front page news.

If the causes of the crashes were similar there might be something going on, but they all have different reasons, so it's just coincidence they've happened within a short period of time. The risks haven't changed, except for flying over areas of armed conflit, and it's still far safer to fly than it is to drive.
