According to news reports, concerns have been raised over significant safety issues with flag carrier Thai Airways which could lead to a ban on international flights.

Thailand is currently ruled by a military junta which ousted the democratically elected government on May 22, 2014. Martial law is still in place and dissent is quickly extinguished with demonstrators 'invited' for a little attitude adjustment. Failure to abide by the invitation however usually leads to arrest and imprisonment.

According to the Bangkok Post the Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha has said that he will use 'special measures' to pre-empt moves by countries to ban Thai Airways. What this means exactly is unclear at the moment.
