You can get an H1B ' green Card' as an Aircraft mechanic. Bring them on... USA workers are all about "Hey, I don't want to get my hands dirty!"
Pay is certainly not great, and profits at airlines are not great, so...expect a shortage of skilled workers.
Much more 'plug-n-play' replaceable assemblies helps the quick fixes required. Anything requiring serious labor needs (overhaul) will be shipped offshore.

Hallelujah... If your job has lights...I can't think of a more useless way to spend daylight hours... WORKING
(Schools and libraries should switch to nights)
Working nights = Heavenly... every 'day' is a day OFF!, more pay, no bosses, no career climbing workers stabbing you in the back, no stink'n day shift 'cry-babies'! 30+ yrs for me, SO glad I was not sequestered to an indoor 'day shift' prison.
