Whenever I read these airport statistics, I'm always surprised at how DC area airports are given the fact that DC is the capital, is relatively international, etc.

It's definitely a surprising and nice increase. FLL has a lot of flights to and from the Caribbean.

Spirit Airlines lol. Their hub is in Fort Lauderdale. When I was flying to the Caribbean, I went through there.

JetBlue has even more. Also this is arrivals at the airport via international flight, not departure. Here's the breakdown for this for FLL by various airlines:

All Foreign Carriers: 1,239,276 passengers
JetBlue: 1,128,910 passengers
Spirit Airlines: 765,802 passengers
Southwest Airlines: 272,489 passengers
American Airlines: 89,687 passengers
United Airlines: 1174 passengers
Delta: 71 passengers

Dulles is a small hub for United. There’s a lot less connecting passengers at Dulles than some of the others. Same is true for Boston — not a large connecting hub.

Ooh good find! It looks like FLL is the center for a bunch of low cost airlines lol. Off the record, I think Jet Blue gets a bad rap. Especially compared to Spirit Airlines.

Seattle was up to 2,733,581 in 2018. That's up 245,556 from 2017. https://www.portseattle.org/page/airport-statistics

It's doubled in a decade or so, due in large part to the new runway that allows multiple flightpaths in bad weather. There might be another sizable jump in 2020 when the new International Arrivals Facility opens and fixes the customs logjam.
