The FlyAway service is so great that I'd never consider anything else from LAX. Other airports, on the other hand...

Must be that geo-fencing technology. I don't think uber has not been green lighted for lax pickup. I could be wrong

Uber X was not available on LAX property last time I was there a few months ago. You are not visible to Uber drivers until you get a few blocks east of Sepulveda (which is quite a hike). You can take an Uber Select, but then you're paying the same rate you'd pay for a normal taxi, which is not cheap.

No UberX or basic Lyft yet. I saw online that the ridesharing signs have already been posted on the departure level but are covered up. So it shouldn't be too much longer before it is allowed.

My current workaround if I fly into terminal 1 is to walk just across Sepulveda and catch Lyft from there. Uber's geofence is larger so I can't/don't use them from LAX.

How long do you think that walk would be if you flew in from terminal B or one of the further terminals? I never thought of doing that and have an international flight in a few months. I usually just take the Flyaway into Van Nuys and then have my family pick me up from there or do Uber/Lyft if I have to.

I'm not sure where terminal B is? Terminals 1/7/8 are all about 1 to 1 1/2 block walk to get to Sepulveda. The international terminal is probably a 3-4 block walk. Someone suggested in another thread taking the bus to the bus terminal. You should be able to catch Lyft from there if you don't want to walk it.
