Are you a graphic or UI designer? If not, you probably don't understand that there are logical reasons behind all that whitespace.

The new paint scheme just looks like a refresh on the existing one, nothing bad about that.

But when the stripped the paint down to the bare aluminum made me realize how much I miss AA's old livery.

I decided not to fly United again when they started charging for overhead bins. What's next; charging us for breathing?

You can't polish an Airbus or 787.

The old livery just wasn't plausible moving forward.

The new one is a "oneworld" thing. All the "oneworld" members have their nations flag painted on the tail.

Yes indeed, the old AA livery was great.... and btw, it looked fine on a white background too
(I think it was applied to some Airbuses, and also some MD80s -- presumably MD80s that AA
acquired used).

Another thing that United did right with its new look was NOT painting a pattern on the winglets.

Probably the MD-80's AA inherited from TWA. American Eagle, the regional affiliate, used a white background as well.

Who cares what an airline livery is. It’s more important what goes on inside a plane or on the ground.

That's the Saul Bass designed livery of the 1980s. Loved that one too.
