I've gotten various advice about looking outside of HD and Lowe's for construction materials (doors, windows, etc) since both big box stores charge high retail mark-up. I've found that to be especially true for specific items that are small enough to be ordered over eBay, etc.

However, I was wondering if there are local supply-type warehouses where you can get quality material without the retail mark-up.

Would like to see others from the Baltimore area chime in as others have in the thread below:

The link will take you to a list of ten supply houses. I haven't seen a building supply house anywhere cheaper than Home Depot or Lowes, unless you are talking about used building materials.

You can add Walbrook to that list; they are good for lumber cut to order. They closed the North Avenue location next to Coppin.
