Baby steps. I have said in past posts, Baltimore needs to start small, those big ideas (Grand Prix, Horseshoe, etc.) never work. Small businesses are key.

As others have said.. the City needs to start with the basics public safety, schools, economic (jobs/housing) all of these things run hand in hand.. I think you are correct in that those "big ideas" like the Grand Prix etc don't work unless you have the basics down.. We know the reality though.. those "big ideas" are usually attached to big donors or are simply items for ones political resume... even if they don't last long...

It's a bit sensationalist to claim her husband was almost killed. It reads like a classic mugging bait. The gun could have been a plastic one as far as we know. There are probably thousands of robberies in Baltimore in a given year and what percentage of that turns into murder?

Nonetheless, I do not want to downplay the fears and frustration. It is still a terrible experience and one certainly would feel violated and start to lose faith in the community you've worked so hard to regenerate.

The safety issue is clearly the most important one facing Baltimore. If you made this city safe, everything else would slowly fall into place (perhaps not even so slowly). But how can we make this a much safer city?

I disagree!!!! Stop acting like a kuntry bumpkin! Baby steps are for babies and Baltimore should NOT be considered a "baby" by NO measurement of the imagination. Look at Philly, New York, Boston and DC! You THINK BIG and mover BIGGER! We just have a babified leadership class in Baltimore City.

Small businesses are a part of the key, but you need more vision.

Man, are you serious?!!!!!

How basic can you get?!! What do you think Baltimore's sports teams are for?!! Managing these sports events should give the city a dress rehearsal of bigger things.

DC did take baby but consistent steps. Baltimore can't go big, there's nothing in place to support it.
