I am scheduled to visit this weekend and I depart BWI at 1145 am Sunday. Predictions (for what they are worth) are saying 1-3 inches Sat night and Sun morning. Is this enough to cause major issues at BWI? This may sound ridiculous, but 3 inches in Georgia causes chaos...3 inches at BWI...I have no clue about the effects of that. Thanks.

it may not cause BWI issues other than the "cascade effect" from other airports.

Causes chaos here too. If they can keep the runways cleared and your destination isn't closed you should be OK. The main problem will likely be getting to the airport on the roads.

I have worked @ BWI for the last 17 years, going on 18. There is no simple answer. Depends on too many factors. How fast it is coming down, if there are airport people there to clear it. Do we have enough TSA to clear Security...

If we can keep the runways clear--we stay open. De-icing can also play a part. All planes will have to get de-iced. It can cause back ups.

Thanks everyone. It seems I should wait and see how the forecast evolves. I would have a 40 mile drive to the airport which could be problematic. Also, the thought of multi-hour delays is not ideal. Hopefully, it will shift away. Thanks for the info.
