Just curious... they said that this was done ten years or so ago...I guess they are banking that the environment downtown and the downtown neighborhoods has improved to the point where this system will be viable? I dont think you can beat "free". I read the comments section of THE SUN... I must say the city/region is full of cynics though many people did have positive things about the new system.

I wonder if Baltimore got the circulator idea from D.C.

Yep DC has had the circulator concept for a while. I think it's a great idea although I don't know how sustainable it is.

I rode it this weekend from downtown over to La Diablita on Central. It was clean, efficient, and best of all-free. There were actually about 6 other people on it; all of whom I would describe as "normal" whatever that is. It certainly beats the whole driving and parking thing all of which I am for. I hope it succeeds.

I rode it from my neighborhood to Harbor East twice now, and I loooooove the new circulator bus. The bus is being paid for by the parking tax, so thanks to all the folks who pay $$$ to park in our garages!

If it's anywhere near as efficient as the D.C. circulator, I don't see how it couldn't be successful... although what will this do to the light rail service? Doesn't the future purple line run down St. Paul to downtown? Seems like it might snatch up some fares from the downtown stretch of the light rail.
