I don't think readers of this forum fully grasp the scale of events that are likely to turn Station North to the city's hottest neighborhood within five years. Forces are now in motion that will create a continous belt of livable in-town neighborhoods stretching from Mount Vernon to Charles Village. The Walmart project in Remington is part of this synergy. I hear the opponents but I think good shopping is essential for the revival of the city. If that shopping involves big boxes, so be it.
What the hell is he smoking, some may say. (I take the Fifth). But I invite doubters to check the following facebook site. Most news involve bounded by Mount Royal, Guilford and Greenmount. That area, now among the worst in the city, will be gentrified:

Meanwhile, the former Land Bank building at 2315 St. Paul Street, north of North Avenue, has been renovated into loft apartments. This week's City Paper contains an add for a public party there on Thursday, April 22, from 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Very exciting developments from Station North.

Only thing is, i noticed they demolished the rowhouses that were on brentwood ~ i hope developers aren't looking to demolish the whole neighborhood.

I thought really hard about buying a home on Federal St. near Greenmount. I know this area will probably rebound eventually, but man, it's still not that great down there. It's going to be at least five years before that area flips, if you ask me...
