You don't see this everyday.

Home team doesn't bat in the bottom of the ninth because they are winning. But this is spring training. Manager wants to get some extra work in for the pitcher.

Umpires say they are done.

It's spring training. You see oddball things all the time.

Not the first time this has happened. Seems to me it hasn't been THAT long ago a similar situation popped up.

I'm curious as to why the umps wouldn't work the bottom half. I know the game was over, but.. Maybe they needed a food run or something.

At least it wasn't Angel. It wasn't Angel, was it?

In an exhibition game, why have umps at all? I guess, they need to get in shape too. Exhibition games, play five, ten, fifteen innings, no ump, all you're doing is scouting your talent in game situations. In March, they often quit after nine even if tied.

What, exactly, does the rule book say about the ninth?
