These things seems to work out for the club. In 2008, the first year they missed the post season since before '95, kt set things up so that everyone knew what day would be the last day for the old Yankee Stadium. Lastt year, the second time they missed,it set it up so that everyone knew in advance when would be Mariano Rivera's final home appearance. This year they are good to go with weepy farewell to Captain Derek day.
Jeter's retirement exhausts the Yankees bank of retiring dynasty icons, and they won't be getting another new stadium for some time, so next year they may resume their winning ways.

According to weather forecasts, there's an excellent chance Jeter's final home game will be rained out. MLB issued a statement saying, "We will do everything possible to have this game played." But it's supposed to be really nasty.
And unless the O's get to within a half game of Angels for home field, the game likely won't be made up on Monday (O's would get the home field if they do tie).
