He was involved in a scuffle with Lebron James while in the NBA Finals where Lebron stepped over Green as he was on the floor in a sign of disrespect, so Green swung up his arm hitting Lebron in the groin.
I do believe he was suspended because of the mandatory rules set up for accumulation of flagrant fouls and/or technical fouls. Which would mean it wasn't a singular incident that caused Green's suspension thus it's not comparable to this one
To suspend him next season does no good and does nothing as far as a justifiable punishment.
Actually, it's a higher penalty, since it will actually cost him money if he's suspended during regular season play. Suspending Gurriel now costs him nothing financially, obviously, since he's already been paid for his services under his contract, inasmuch as the regular season has been over for a month.
That's why the MLB decided the penalty was to be served at the beginning of the 2018 season. That way, the punishment would actually have a financial impact on the player.

True I think they said it would cost him in excess of 300,000.00

thanks for clarifying this - besides, NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL all work w/ their individual CBAs and rules......different leagues, different circumstances, different offenses.

that's pretty severe, if you ask me.....he'd likely have gotten less punishment if he rushed the mound for a high and inside pitch.

Goodness gracious, just let it the heck go! It's been resolved and Gurriel has apologized. Let's focus on baseball now.
And really? he's the reason the dodgers lost the game?
Ummm...yeah. Without his triple run homer the Dodgers would have won.
