Very true.

One still sees quite a few 'Black folk' playing baseball-------but, they are Hispanic, not Anglo Blacks. Probably due to more and more options opening for AA's here in the USA in other areas--------and, not just sports.

Just my opinion, but growing up, football and baseball were far easier to play. Less equipment as already noted, but an even bigger issue is the number of people needed to play. For basketball, a ball, a hoop, and 2 people can play one on one. I couldn't possibly count how many times I played hours of one on one ball with a friend on a summer evening. Football? A ball, an imaginary set of boundaries, and 6 people could play enough to be fun. Baseball? Several balls (one always gets fouled off and lost!), a field to play, and IMO no less than 8 people and even that could suck at times. 4 people per side leaves a pitcher, a first baseman, someone playing short stop and covering 2nd and 3rd simultaneously, and 2 outfielders, pitcher covers an extra base or home after he throws, you have to use the batting cage as a catcher. But to comfortably play, 12-18 people are necessary.

Also, baseball isn't a glory sport like basketball and football. If you can't belt out lots of homeruns or throw lots of strikeouts, you are not going to get much attention.
