You know the Braves are 6.5 back in the standings right? And the Phils are now over their slump they were in the last time they played the Braves. The NL East is already wrapped up, and the wildcard is not coming from the East.

This ariticle debunks trade myths like this.

Very rarely does a pitcher obtained in a mid summer trade end up winning a WS game.

For a while now I was wondering if I should start an NL East thread, this just pushed me over the YES category.

First, the Phillies need to get two in a row before anyone can talk about three in a row. That seems a bit over the top. Halladay could make a difference, but it's about what happens when the regular season ends.

What do you guys think?
They certainly would have a great chance to win one of the next 2, their chances of winning both would be unlikely, if only because it is rare a team can stay healthy 3 years in a row.

If the Phillies and Jays get this done it might get done tonight.

I understand that Halliday was just acquired by the Cardinals. Time to close this thread!

The Cardinals acquired outfielder Matt Holliday, not pitcher Roy Halliday.

One thing we do know is it is very unlikely the Mets will acquire either player this year.

You're kidding, right?

You do know these are two different people with similar last names.
