Giants are in the top 3rd of the league in spending.
The bats need to wake up!! The Phils had been a team that 9 times out of 10 would win if they gave up less than 5 runs. I predict they smack around Bumgarner (huh huh huh...Bumgarner....can't help but do a Beavis and Butthead laugh when I hear that name), tie it up tonight and take back home field advantage! Ben Francisco starting in place of Ibanez tonight...I predict we give the Giants a little "Ben Francisco treat!!"
14 starts, 2.30 ERA, 3 - 8 record when the Phils scored less than 3 runs.
11 starts, 3.53 ERA, 6 - 3 record when the Phils scored between 3 and 5 runs
8 starts, 4.03, 3 - 0 record when the Phils scored 6 or more runs
They better wake the **** up and even this series tonight. I like the move to put Francisco in there and bench Ibanez. He's looked lost out there. The concern I have (besides the offense) is how effective Blanton will be. He hasn't pitched in some time and the Giants are manufacturing runs well right now.
The Giants have scored eight runs in the three games against the Phillies, or 2.66 runs per game. In the entire post season they have scored nineteen runs in seven games, 2.71 runs per game.
They may be manufacturing runs somewhere, but the runs aren't making it to the retail outlets.
What the Giants are doing well is pitching. In those seven games the staff has yielded eighteen runs, or 2.57 runs per game.
The Giants have gone 5-2 in the post season while outscoring the opposition 2.71 runs to 2.57 runs per game.
Not much waking up on the part of the Phillies would be required to disturb this highwire act.
Which of these exceptional batters would you want on your team?
Player A is the Phillies hitting vs the Giants this series (per 550 at bats)
Player B is the Giants hitting vs the Phillies this series (per 550 at bats)
14 starts, 2.30 ERA, 3 - 8 record when the Phils scored less than 3 runs.
11 starts, 3.53 ERA, 6 - 3 record when the Phils scored between 3 and 5 runs
8 starts, 4.03, 3 - 0 record when the Phils scored 6 or more runs
Well 11 - does that include the playoffs, thought that one would have made 12 - regardless he deserved a better record - more importantly regardless the Phils bats need to wake up in this series!
