In his prime he stood a chance to get a ring but now he knows his career is coming to an end so he wants one before he goes. Don't be surprised if it's the Lakers,Orlando, or the Knicks if they get
Lebron.
I read this earlier. This is a low-risk move for LA if this goes through. For one, Tmac may actually be healthy enough( unlikely but one never knows) a year after his surgery to be a great spark off the bench. He provides an insurance policy at 3 positions, in particular backing Kobe for 13 minutes a night, Artest for 12-13 minutes, and even spot duty at point guard depending on the matchup. He'll be under no pressure to carry a team, and I don't think he can anymore anyways, so he may play better under those conditions. As for signing him, right now due to his health his value is low, so he's nothing more than a mid-level signing at this point. If he works out, that's even better for LA. If he doesn't, no biggie because he's not being brought in as a savior anyways. This is the defending( and next season's favorites) champs we're talking here.

I agree. To me its a win win for the Lakers. The guy probably will get the vet minimum which is like 4-5mil. He is versatile and be a spark off the bench.
Also, the Lakers are interested in Raja Bell who is a good defender and 3pt shooter. His game is like Matt Barnes.
This would be a good move. T-Mac is no longer the explosive offensive force he used to be but he could give 9 to 15 points a game. Adding Raja Bell will make the Lakers even better than they have been in the past 2 seasons.

Probably not going to go through. Tracy wants this for his legacy- he probably figures the Lakers are the best key to his first ring, and that's all he wants. It's evident. But it won't go through.
He is a very inconsistent player, how many times can you get injuries- go into months of rehab and surgery, miss large portions of the season and not be there for your team when they're in the playoffs, and then expect any team to take you seriously for game play?
Tracy is my favorite all time basketball player, even more than Jordan, so don't think I'm shooting him down. Love the guy, but his hey day is over, and his time is up- he needs to take it easy and spend more time with his family.

+1. Back in the day maybe.. But his glory days are over unfortunately. He'd clash with Kobe too IMO

Sounds like you are describing Andrew Bynum! He nearly cost the Lakers the championship. It would be great if Tracy came to LA but I haven't read anything that suggests it is likely. Fisher looks like he will be given another contract with the Lakers.
