this is not true, the only thing keeping them from playing elsewhere is their nba insurance. case in point, tony parker is expected to play with france, and in france as long as france is willing to pay his insurance. thiago splitter is already getting his insurance paid by brazil, and manu is getting his paid by argentina. now those are international teams not another league but others are likely to play elsewhere provided their insurance is covered. rudy fernandez (recently traded to dallas) has a 6 year contract on the table from a spanish team, and serge ibaka (sir chewbaca as i like to call him)is mulling playing in europe as well.
manu said he will go to europe and play if the lockout lasts until january or later.
the big names, kobe, duncan, lebron those guys will sit and wait, they dont need to money per se but more would prefer the rest (especially duncan and kobe considering kobe just got his knee fixed). IMO it is more about the older vs younger players then it is about money.
It is probably safe to say that quite a few centers will be overweight if the lockout lasts for at least half the season. I think the best thing for most players to do is return to school and take classes toward their degree. Some players like Kobe, DWill, and Amare might play in Europe or China. As far as planking, it just depends on where you do it:

If they are locked out, there contract is null and void until they are no longer locked out.
Example - Chad Ochocinco trying out for a professional soccer team and attempting bullriding. Those are both things he wouldnt be able to do without a lockout.
