However, CBSSports.com has learned that the Lakers have engaged in preliminary trade discussions with an unlikely trade partner regarding Howard: their fierce rival, the Boston Celtics. The centerpieces of the possible deal, which hasn't gained any traction, would be Howard and Rajon Rondo.
That would be incredible if the Lakers could get rid of that incredibly overrated Howard. He was a tremendous mistake and he will be an underperformer wherever he goes. His game is just too damn limited.
I can't see why Boston would part with Rondo however.
Boston should do it asap...KG, Howard, and Pierce would seriously be a threat to win a title...they have a stud defender in Bradley and even Lee is a very good defender in the back court...KG and Howard would be a wall in the front court. Look at how the ball moves so much better now since Rondo's injury. Lakers would get worse defensively, but their offense would be better. I do see conflict with Rondo and Kobe though. Rondo is the kind of guy that wants to treat everyone equally. Not sure if Rondo would want Kobe to facilitate . Rondo also wouldn't like the idea of Kobe shooting alot.
Umm KG is as intense as Kobe is. If Howard doesn't react well to Kobe's leadership, what makes anyone think he'd react any better to Garnett's? Unless of course KG is shipped out....

Clippers front office won't make a the deal
"Vinny Del Negro wants KG, willing to give Bledsoe/Jordan for him. Clips front office totally against the move. Front office has final say. If Boston wants Willie Green, Ronny Turiaf & Caron Butler, sure the Clips front office will take KG, but not for Bledsoe & Jordan."

the reason fo is kinda against it is that they want to really be sure cp3 re-signs in summer...if he doesn't, they will have no pt. guard for the future...i think it is safe to say that cp3 re-signs with clips though. i think this has more of a chance of getting done than the howard/rondo one...in the end though, KG has a no trade clause in his contract, so it really is up to him if this trade happens, not both front offices.
Kevin Garnett says he won't waive no-trade clause; Clippers think he'll change mind
Garnett's chair during Saturday morning's media availability was positioned next to that of Griffin and Clippers guard Chris Paul. Paul exchanged pleasantries with Garnett prior to the media availability and made mention that both are close to Billups.
