This is what I suggest happen. Too late now.
Sponsors will cut ties with the Clippers, no doubt. To associate with the Clippers will cause a backlash. Watch and see-it will be "unofficial", but it will happen.

The league needs the team boycotted, and not the league, as the former will disproportinately reduce the selling price Sterling gets for the team.

I was watching Silver's speech live...tears came to my eyes as he said "banned for life"...

As a white woman who grew up in the south during the civil rights struggle, I am proud of Mr. Silver, the NBA and our country as a whole here in 2014.

There continue to be struggles for those of color, differing ethnicity etc...BUT

BANNED FOR LIFE is our new slogan...

thrown at anyone living in the USA who is repulsive enough to practice racism in any form.

Just didn't expect such

Yeah, that'll fix racism...let's have all of the perfect people, media, and president who have never had one single, personal, negative, racial thought or bias about anyone else just shame and humiliate the racists who were caught rather than educating them to think differently. That'll bring our country together.

Would you actually say our country is more united as a result of this?

Some kind of world we live in right? Some people are literally giddy like it's Christmas morning....all because a rich white guy they didn't know was stripped of his property. You would think the United States just solved world hunger or cured cancer.

Now if only these same people would bring this excitement to things that matter....ya know, lowering crime, improving the educational system, lowering poverty, scientific discoveries -- stuff that matters.

Donald Sterling is NOT the poster child for all that is wrong in the world.

That's a fancied resentment you have there... aka created in your own head.

Hate doesn't solve hate.

Reminds me of Snoop Dog's rant.

It would be a shame if the Clippers stay distracted and lose to the Warriors and are done for the season. Then what will the sports media have left to talk about? The Heat vs. the Spurs? Snore!

The NBA has a pretty heavy-handed history when it comes to its so-called "thugs", when those thugs are players. This is the first time they've chosen to censor an owner.
