Are the Golden State Warriors legit? A threat to win a title? Best record in the NBA currently at 17-2. Haven't really been following the NBA closely this year. What is your take, those who have been watching this season closely?

Not yet because they have not

1. beat the spurs

2. beat okc with durant in the lineup

But overall they are looking like a top 2 to 3 team in the west

What has Steve Kerr done to get these results?

He was a good role player and I know he had no coaching experience.

What did he do to be so successful in his first head coaching gig?

GSW is legit. Bulls are a tough opponent and played a somewhat sloppy game but right now I pick GSW to meet the Spurs in the WCF

In another thread I stated that initially I thought the Warriors were making a mistake replacing Mark Jackson with Kerr. But after the great start the Dubs have gotten off to, that doesnt appear to be the case. But in all fairness to Mark Jackson, Kerr inherited a team that had been in the playoffs the last two years. So everything that Jackson "built" was already in place. Much easier job than taking over a team that is in dissaray which is usually the case and common when a new coach is hired.

I caught the very end of this game on WGN and was highly surprised how the Warriors were so much in control for the win. They do look legit.

They have a very impressive roster on paper, especially considering that David Lee has only played 1 game (hamstring) but is expected to return sometime this week

I like the fact that they have so much 3 pt shooting, and Steve Kerr should be just the guy to know how to use that. However, right now the Clippers are even a little better in 3 pt shooting, averaging 10.5 3 pointers made per game, whereas the Warriors are at 9.7.

Over the years I have seen NBA teams rack up wins the first 20 games, and wind up going nowhere in the playoffs.

I will say they no longer have that "playground" style of basketball which means they will be tough to beat

They appear more disciplined and pride themselves in good defense.
