I couldn't find a team thread in the last ten pages, so I made [a new?] one.
So talk everything Dallas Mavs here!
Tonight, they lost to the Grizz. Thought I saw a rally coming but the starters just didn't have the same energy the bench guys did. Plus I think the officiating was a little sloppy. Stoudamire being (unrightly, maybe) thrown out when he was trying to provide a spark. Plus you can't win if you miss over a dozen free throws.
That loss stropped a three-game win streak and dropped Dallas to 44-26. They'll take on the Suns in Phoenix Sunday.
I'm curious to watch the Kidd-Kyrie relationship. Kidd, at least when he coached the Bucks was a hard a$$ on the players, & very strict. All about the team & sacrifice, etc. Giannis highlighted some of it in his book. A lot of Kidds antics were over the line. I've heard he's softened though.
Kidd was a hard ass when he coached the Bucks? I have to chuckle on that because he was a mess as a player and he gets coaching gigs because of his player reputation. Heck of a talent but he was a head case, too. That's probably the draw, I guess. I think he will put up with Kyrie's antics as long as he shows up and plays, collecting W's along the way.
Did they change the rules to allow the offense to use two basketballs at the same time?
If not, I have a hard time imagining this pairing will work. Both guys need the ball, I see an offense of alternating ISO possessions, attempts to stagger minutes to minimize pairing them together (think Paul and Harden in Houston) so each can get their shots up. I guess you have to trade to try and get star power though, so worth the minimal risk.

Kyrie will steal lukas stats, points and assists wise. This wont look good, the mavs are trying to keep luka from leaving, and this is the worst possible player to add on.

That's the word on the street. Larry Sanders has spoken out numerous times about how hard Kidd was, & how Kidd kinda ruined him mentally. Then Giannis talked about Kidds crazy coaching in his book from 2021.

Interesting. I stand corrected. I know his time with the Nets was a mess. Him and the bottle were very intimate at the time. Domestic issues as well. However, that's off court stuff. I think at this point he's laid off the sauce. He balled like crazy for the Nets and took them to 2 NBA finals. At the time, coach Scott looked the other way since he was so exceptional on the floor. He did win a ring with Dirk at Dallas, am I correct?
