Curry will in time be great as he matures and hones his skills. He is inconsistent on 3's ,but uncanny as an assist player. The gauge I use is how many games his contribution leads to winning and especially when called upon to drain the final go ahead!! I only watch the NBA when GS is on TV although when I can catch Lin (Hornets) in the paint I'm all there as well. What is fun to watch is Curry hits all net Fri 30-35 ft like butter!!! Isiah was insane and the stats will tell the story in time.

If your judging the two based on some kind of idea of what a pure point guard is than yeah, maybe Isiah is the better PG. Stats can't measure intangibles. If Isiah is a better defensive PG, better passer, better floor general, tougher, etc - than maybe he gets the nod. If the 3 point line was used more back then maybe Isiah shoots the 3 more and scores more?

One thing I notice is that for most of basketball history great PGs were often not great scorers to the extent that Curry is. Payton, Stockton, Kidd, Nash, Magic, Isiah, Cousey, Frazier, etc - outside of West and Oscar none were leading the league in scoring. I think West did it once. Nowadays you have Curry, Westbrook, Lilard going for 24+ ppg. Out of the top 15 scorers in the NBA, 5 are PGs. Perhaps a great shooter like Curry (son of Dell Curry) came along at just the right time with rules that allow for easier scoring and a PG position that has changed from facilitator to primary scoring option. Check out the leading scorer list from the 80s - you won't find many PGs for the entire decade. I'm not so sure you can just say the Steph Curry of today would do the same things he does now back then - he would've likely been raised in the mold of PGs of the era. He would've been yelled at for shooting so much and from so far away before he could ever get good at it. The same could be said of today's big men that often handle the ball and shoot 3s.
