Biyombo is looking like a max salary player against the Cavs. It's gotta make you wonder how the Cavs handle Ibaka, Adams and Kanter on the boards. Thompson and Love will have to step up or maybe the Cavs can try playing Mozgov.
OKC is looking like they've got juice. There's fire in their eyes....and it was when Durant went down early last season that I realized Russell Westbrook is the best player on that team. He's the real leader, and his energy, for better or worse, is infectious. This is two straight seasons I've said this, now...
Durant has surprisingly improved his defensive play. It's about damn time, man's only been playing for 9 seasons! Still, he doesn't always take good shots, he is either too passive or over aggressive at times, and I swear to god his turnovers kill me worse than Westbrook's! Durant can be very boneheaded as well, and he's a more streaky shooter than people care to notice. He'll have a sub-40% shooting night once every four games or so...
How the Cavs close this series, and season out, will tell a bunch about LeBron James. I'm probably his biggest fan who isn't from Cleveland or a Cavs fan, but we're approaching a moment of truth here...
Kyrie's got the juice. While I think Westbrook is the better and more explosive player, Irving has the ability to go off and is an offensive stud. He can trade baskets with anyone, and his offense is tight enough to keep his team in the game when everyone else is struggling. The Cavs would have to figure out how to hold the Thunder front court. Biyombo is 6'9 and punishing them, in theory, it would seem OKC would be too tough to handle. Unless they find a way to better protect the rim and establish a front court presence, I just can't see them beating the Thunder...
First, let's worry about Toronto. LeBron has to be the best player. They cannot continue to get pummeled inside and let streaky Lowry and DeRozan pick em off at will....
I'm calling Cavs win, but it will be by less than 10, and probably be tight to the final five minutes before they separate...
By the way Love is featured in a new campaign for Banana Republic. Talk about an ugly duckling, when Love was at UCLA he looked like a lumpy, dumpy dude that looked like joe average. Now he's blossomed into a strikingly handsome dude.
NOW it is extremely unlikely that Toronto or GS will mount some epic come-back and it will likely be the cavs as we expected since the end of last year back in the finals against the team almost none of us thought would be there.
I do agree that Cleveland has the size to match-up against OKC a lot better so there will be different keys to that series.
I'm REALLY looking forward to this finals. We're getting a new champ one way or another unless an epic comeback takes place.
