Can anyone tell me anything about the Runnymede townhomes on Old Hammond Highway near Airline Highway? And anything in that area in general as well as the Goodwood area. Thanks! Anything helps.

I can tell you that they are expensive. I wasn't sure if they were rental homes/apartments or condos about 9-10 years ago and found out they were basically higher end condos. I think they look nice. The neighborhood is good. It's close to Airline, so you have access to nearly everything you would want or need. With the 4 laned Old Hammond now, it's not a problem getting in and out. It would have been when I was looking at the place a decade ago.

The Goodwood area is good, although the question is, with Womans eventually pulling out, will that affect the quality of the retail and (possibly) the resale value of the subdividsions ? For instance, Hammond Aire Shopping Center has some lower end stores there. And there is a VERY low end motel near Airline and Goodwood (although, to be fair, it's been a LOW end motel there for years). And as much as I like Tara, the neighborhood has been around for 30-40 years, and I don't perceive it has a lot of new blood moving in.

Once you cross Tara Blvd (on Old Hammond) and Lobdell (on Goodwood), I don't see the potential of decline as much of an issue, because you still have people renovating homes, as well as new homes and retail going up.

Actually, plans have been in the works for several years. They're just on hiatus because of the credit crunch.

Thanks all, are there any plans to put some other type of medical service in the old woman's hospital?

Honestly, I haven't heard anything.

Herd an interesting statistic on Womans today that makes you wonder about their viability - in the old days, they got 40% of their revenues from Medicaid. Today, that figure is 70%. Which means any time the Feds and/or DHH wants to mess around with Medicaid funding (which is fairly often), it's the Womanses that are left holding the bag.
