Can someone please explain the rationale behind permits to cut utilities on in your name? I've never heard of this before (I'm from MI relocating to BR next month) and am just curious.

It's an existing home that we're renting. Our rental agent said that they're required in Denham Springs.

I've never actually heard of that before and I'm in Louisiana o.o. Might just not be in an area where that is done.

Livingston Parish requires a permit be obtained from the Health Unit in Livingston. They fax the permit to the utility company. The permit office's # is 686-3021. Keep in mind they close early on Fridays. I don't know the reason but it has been in effect a long time.

Yep! Same in Ascension parish. Had to get a permit to have the power turned on and went applied to see what was required for a new hook up so we would get it done right. Heck, before we even got back, they had been out here and left a denied notice on the door because it wasn't hooked up yet. DUH!

In Livingston Parish it was required for power, sewage and water years ago when I lived there. Permits for each and all at a fee.

Thanks! It's a very different policy than what I'm used to. Were moving to Livingston Parish and will lhave to pay about $350 just for the permits. It's also difficult to get everything done over the phone. The sewage office won't even fax me the thing...oh well...

Thanks for answering!

Your rental agent can do it for you . My sister is a Realtor and she does it for her clients if they are from out of town .
