We are very excited to be moving to Bend in a few months. I will be working a bit south of Bend so we are thinking about SW Bend. Anyone live in the communities off Brookswood Blvd? I looked at some places there and it seems to offer alot - great location, access to the river trail and great MTB, easier 97 access than from downtown, etc.
Beyond just a "how is SW Bend" answer... is there another place you would consider?

Most of the communities off of Brookswood are quite nice. Housing is well maintained. That Elk Meadow elementary school has a good reputation. The little shopping center is useful and has an excellent variety of stores.

I'd look in Homestead, which is off of Brookswood and behind Elk Meadow School and has custom built older housing on extra large lots and beautiful large old trees. Although, there is rarely anything for sale in there.

Deschutes River Woods is worth looking at. That used to be a separate village south of Bend, but it is now just an extension of Bend, with county taxes instead of city taxes. It's just about the last place left in the area where you can get a one acre lot. The older housing and the mobile homes are being removed and replaced with nicer housing. A few areas in Deschutes River Woods have irrigation water, which means all the neighbors have lawns and that really helps to keep the dust down. Don't buy near the railroad tracks or on a dirt road.
