HI. We are looking to relocate from NC to the Bend area to ne closer to family. Curious about the affordable senior communities/manufactured homes. Can anyone give me insight on the good or bad parks to avoid? TY Deb L

Mobile home communities are in short supply. There is one very nice one east of the hospital but I don't think it is a senior community.

You can find older manufactured homes scattered about in the countryside, not really in communities. There are plenty of older mobile homes on small acreage for sale in Deschutes River Woods.

Romaine Village is a mobile home community that was outside the city limits and the city limits grew out around it, so it is now inside the city. it's been there a long time and looks its age.

Many of the mobile home parks were shut down and converted to other use.

For senior living:
Suntree Village
Snowberry Village
Cascade Village
Rock Arbor Villa

They all seem fine and Suntree and Cascade have more elbow room, I think, than is typical. Snowberry Village and Rock Arbor are close to shopping and the hospital, if that is important to you. There is also some senior housing on Robinson Ave., but as I’m sure you know, the price for SFR homes is out of control here now. Romaine Village seems to have some seedy parts and the elevation is higher there so you have more snow and ice. Country Estates also seems to have a lot of room but isn’t senior living. I’ve only driven by these places so my knowledge is limited.

Don't know about the others but knew 2 residents of Suntree Village. It's a nice little community and it seems that the neighbors their look after one another. if I was looking for a place with a lot of seniors, close to town with some nice mobile homes I'd definitely check them out.

If you don't mind apartment living, The Vintage at Bend on the east side of town is a decent affordable tax credit complex 55 and older. It's going through a remodel at the moment and has new management so it's certainly gotten better than years past. It has income limits but a 2 bedroom is pretty affordable for this area at just under 1,000 dollars a month. It's across the road from a shopping center, grocery stories, everything you need and a bunch of restaurants are within walking distance. The wait list is about 5-6 months long which is very short compared to most but I've known people to only wait 2 months or less. Some apartments here have 4-5 year wait lists.
