Big Island - Hawaii shared Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods's photo.

Have you seen the green flash?
Mahalo to Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods for sharing.

I think you have to be pretty lucky to view this. I'm guessing it doesn't last very long.

I have seen it and it only lasts for what seems like less than a second. It happens at just the last moments when the sun is going out of sight in the evening.

It's really quite fun to see. But you have to be really watching intently or you'll miss it. And in the end, all that staring at the sun probably isn't good for your vision. But once is fun.

We've watched for it, but have never seen it.
Maybe someday!

I never saw it when I lived in Hawaii, but I did see it once while vacationing in Santa Monica. Whenever I'm at the ocean at sunset, I watch (and usually have my camera ready) but only got lucky once. Looked a lot like that photo; that's a great shot!

Whenever we are visiting friends at the Ala Wai we look for it, but yet to see it. If it happened in the morning, us on the east side would have a better chance
