We are relocating to Hilo or Puna area and want to open a small business. A plan I have is to open a new age book store with Journals, candels, crystals, theraputic oils, some music, yoga and meditaion cd'S or DVD's. Do you think that would work there?

Here in Indiana we have this excellent spot with a bunch of New Age stores, each specializing in a different focus. Like Cynm said, check out what is there and see what they offer. If you carry Nag Champa in bulk quanities, I'll be your #1 customer!

Live life, you have found your spot! Puna would certainly be the place for that. The Punatics would lay out the red carpet for you. It might go in Hilo too, but these type of places usually do not last long there. There is already a shop like that on the Bay front, and the Hilo health food store sells most of what you want to carry already. Keep in mind that store front rents can be high, and even though there is definitely a new age consciousness (whatever that is) in these two places, that does not necessarily translate into people that are going to spend a lot of money on candles and incense, if you get my drift. It might be a good idea to broaden you product base. Or move to Ashville.
