How about "buyer beware?"

So someone is looking at property for sale in Waikoloa and finds a property they like being advertised in Waikoloa by a "reputable" realtor, how does the buyer know that property really isn't in Waikoloa. In fact, the latest property is on the other side of the island, nearly 100 miles away.

If you buy a house without looking at it (or even looking at a map), you deserve to own a house that’s 100 miles away from where you want it.

Real Estate agents do this all the time. It expands the results for internet MLS searchers, so someone looking for a house in say, Captain Cook will see how much more house they can afford in HOVE.

Who said anything about buying a property sight unseen?

I would be highly suspicious of a realtor who tries to lead me that far astray.

I find it hard to believe people on the BI don’t know the island well enough to know where they want to live and that they wouldn’t know 100 miles is not part of the target area.

How about people coming from Alaska? The address on the ad says Waikoloa.

As you should well know, address are different here than on the mainland. When we first came to the Big Island we didn’t know that you had to look at the full address. We were looking for 2567 Mamalahoa Highway and didn’t know that there was 94-2567 as well as 95-2567 and 92-2567 depending on what District it was in. We were really lost!

I find it hard to believe even someone from Alaska would be so clueless as to get in a realtors car of a target area only to be driven 100 miles away. If they did that and bought the property 100 miles away then they got what they deserve.

Interesting that some folks are okay with deceptive advertising.
