Alternatively, is there a camping locations available? Is there any wild animal I could worry about if put up a tent in a remote area and stay there isolated for 2 weeks?

If you arrive after August 1st, you may be able to not quarantine if you have a current negative Covid test. The requirements seem to change frequently, but that seems to still be in effect even with the increasing numbers of Covid. I'm sure there's a website out there somewhere with the exact requirements.

You need to take a test within 72 hours of your flight and have a printed or emailed result upon arrival to not quarantine.

1) It must be from a certified lab. Hawaii has not published a list of certified labs.

2) You must have the result with you to avoid quarantine when you - many labs on the mainland are taking 10 business days to send you the result. No result - then you quarantine. Edited to add, Mayor of Atlanta, who has Covid, said her test took 8 days to get the result - being interviewed on CNN as I type this.

3) No test on arrival provisions

It is safe to say very few people will be able to comply with the requirement.

And that’s a problem. Currently, labs are taking 6-10 days for test results.

Really want to visit Big Island in August, this seems impossible. Typical Hawaii governmental response (impossible rules).

That's an official website on Hawaii's quarantine, although it doesn't mention how far in advance of arrival in Hawaii the Covid test needs to be done, but I didn't search the site very deeply.

The test must be within 72 hours of your departing flight to Hawaii

Saw this article in West Hawaii Today:https://www.westhawaiitoday.com/2020...6D3G7JmSoa8Qr4

Basically, the company supplying chemicals to Hawaii to run tests has cut back on what they will supply. Probably means reduced testing capacity and longer turn around times.

Capacity has been reduced from 5,000 per day to 2,500 per day
