I will be moving there this fall. I am fortunate because I have friends there where I can hole up for a couple weeks and quarantine.

Just be sure you have someone to deliver food and toiletries to your home during your 14-day quarantine. Time your vehicle to arrive after your quarantine or have someone pick it up for you. Be sure your household goods arrive after your quarantine.

How are people arriving at the airport getting to their house? I know that rental cars are not allowed at present and I don’t know if an Uber will take me to the south part of the island.

Maybe time your vehicle shipping to get there before your flight. I know that Matson will hold them for a certain amount of time (maybe a week?), but of course you have to pay extra for that service.

Although, don't get caught if you try to go to Matson - that isn't allowed. You have to go directly from the airport to your quarantine location.

We got new neighbors at the beginning of the shut down. I'm not sure how they got here, they arrived in a cab or some such since they didn't have a car for the first two weeks. They brought boxes of food for their quarantine since they didn't know we'd do shopping trips for them. Their dogs were able to come with them since the airlines were still shipping animals at that time. About a week after they got here, many of the airlines stopped shipping animals in cargo.

When we got here, my SIL picked us up at the airport. Since we were staying with her, she took us straight to her place where she too had to do the 14-day quarantine. We all wore masks when she picked us up. She had already pre-stocked the house before we got there. Anything that any of us needed, her daughter would pickup and/or deliver to the garage to do the exchanges. The end of the two weeks was enthusiastically welcomed by everyone. We only go out when we need to, but at least we can now leave the house and not have to bother our niece.

I suggest you join Hilo Happenings on Facebook and ask about hiring someone reputable to pick up your vehicle from Matson and drop it off at the airport for you.
