Feral pigs are running rampant through our residential neighborhood. We can't shoot them with a gun (too many houses), but maybe crossbow? Trapping a wild pig -- forget it!
The pig repellant posted at the top was my actual suggestion. There are many varieties.

Glad you enjoyed the video. I included it because it was funny. It sounded like it was narrated by a computer-generated voice, LOL!

I have not been to the islands in some time but even 10 years ago people were complaning about the feral pigs . They can be dangerous to small children if they inadvertantly get in their way . The American South has an issue that is worsening. There is a lot of need for food in any community, these days more than ever. The poor and hungry are often invisible in our community.

Why not have a wide open cull the herd hunt with the pigs going to the butchers to properly process them and disribute the meat to those local agencies who can see that it gets to the people who need it. Use it at community events etc and supply it to BBQ vendors for free in exchange for lower prices to town citizens who attend the events etc.

There is no reason to allow these non native animals to continue to expand their range and damage the ecosystems. Not saying kill them all, just manage the herd and not waste the protein that can supply food to the needy.

Shooting them is the only solution. Day hunts, night hunts with night-vision as well as strategically-placed remote-controlled rifles or shotguns with buckshot.

Total extermination should be the goal, and the meat, if collected while still fresh, could be sold either as a carcass, cut-and-wrapped, or a canned or jerked product, or as sausage.

Professional shooters need to be employed to insure safety.

Shooting animals in a residential neighborhood is not only a bad idea - but likely not legal.

Laws might have to be changed. People have to decide if they want to be overrun or not. That's were professional shooters come in. But most of the shooting would be done elsewhere where possible. There is no pie-in-the-sky perfect solution. Eggs will have to be broken. Mitigated risks will have be taken. Some of these places are spread out, not like a traditional neighborhood. Also, employ baiting/shooting stations to concentrate them for eradication.

Or, cower and be overrun (probably what will happen).

Molokai is being overrun by Axis Deer. Herd estimate is 60,000. This year they are starving and dying at a rapid rate due to drought. They are moving into towns and onto farms out of desperation for food.

Most sane people don't consider a pig eating some plants to be "overrun".

Most sane people know the problem is bigger, MUCH bigger, than "a pig". Apparently, you don't count yourself as being part of that group.

No, I don't consider shooting guns in residential neighborhoods with people and children a great idea.
