No.

Water, if you are on the county owned water system, will cost you a monthly fee based upon usage.

Electricity runs from 2.5x to 4x what you may be accustomed to on the mainland. Recent threads have mentioned that the current cost is around 34 cents per KWH. Where I still am (until June 25th) our local cost is about 11 cents per KWH.

Why would you even think we did get free water and power? There ain't no free lunch. Perhaps if you are on catchment water it is "free" after you pay for the rain collection system, the filters and the power to run the pump. Solar electric has costs to set the system up, replacement parts costs and it is very limited in the amount of power available.

By unlimited, do you mean free or "rationed" in some way? There's catchment and there's county water, and a few subdivisions w/ private systems (more expensive usually than county). Electricity via Helco is about .44 cents per KWH. If you have catchment water, unless it is brand new state of the art, you buy your drinking water and only use catchment water for washing, toilets, and such.

You don't have to go too far off the main roads in places to find yourself off the grid and on catchment, either.

Yes, you do get unlimited clean water and unlimited electricity. Don't know what the cost of county water is on the Big Island and electric rates is upwards of 40 cents a KW, but if you have the money to pay for it, I see no reason you can't keep the taps open and the lights a burning.

I think your the third person to ask that same question recently, did you hear or read that someplece? I can see some developer trying to unload a bunch of lots by saying residents get free water and electricity.
