I have been reading a book on the sunbelt post WWII growth and the Birmingham Metro area was not included. Can anyone describe to me how that area grew since WWII?

What areas are up and coming and which are not? Any in migration from the North? Any foreign migration as well? What caused the growth? I would love the extra info.

Almost all growth has been to the south and east of town. Dominated by white flight probably more so than other urban areas in the 60's/70's. Very little migration from the north. Not much international migration compared to most of the southwest and other urban areas. International migrants are primarily hispanic, with a few from europe and asia due to medical industry and manufacturing. Most metro area growth in the past 40 years has been from population growth and expansion of the metro area into other counties.
