I've pulled up the Uber app on my phone a few times to see if a car is available and most of the time they are. So finally it's here.

I just wanted to see if anyone has used them yet (in B'ham), and share the experience, good or bad. When I have pulled it up around 7 PM, it looks they have 1-2 drivers around the Hoover Galleria area, 2-3 around the 280 area, and 4-6 in downtown.

That is is interesting considering Hoover has yet to pass their law allowing them to operate.

Did some bar hopping in 5Ps via Uber this weekend. Worked flawlessly. Walked out of J Clyde, stepped into car, stepped out of car, walked into Garage Cafe. With a cab company, that would've been a more expensive and lengthier ordeal. Couldn't help but think about some of the legitimate concerns associate with Ubz whilst I was riding though.

Still, no doubt it's a cool and efficient tool. It does have some gnarly flaws in certain scenarios, believe dat.

I just hope no drama pops up that gives the city council the "Told Ya So" moment, because I think it's going to be helpful breath of fresh air for us. Gets customers to businesses more effectively.

Although Uber cannot yet operate in Hoover, the drivers can sit there stationed near the Galleria and still be pretty centrally located to when they get a request for pickup in Pelham, Alabaster, Vestavia, etc.

It is expected that Uber will be allowed to operate in Hoover within the next couple of weeks.

I haven't used it in Bham yet because I've been out of town... But I don't need to use it in Bham to know it's going to work as well there as all the other cities I've used it in. It's a no brainer. I'm not sure why the council thought that Birmingham would be an exception to the "Uber is better" rule.
