Maybe they need it for construction when they redo the bridges and upgrade the junction. Even if just for staging equipment. I would also think maybe some of those people whole live on or around 10th Ct N would have to relocate too. But either way...it is good that eyesore is finally gone.

Hopefully, the one near I-65 and UAB will relocate so it can be demolished too. The downtown skyline would be so much better with those eyesores removed.

Do you hope Sloss Furnaces is torn down as well?

Like it or not, Birmingham was an industrial city.

Actually, no I don't think Sloss should be torn down. I assume you are smart enough to recognize the significance of Sloss to our city's history vs a cement plant.

Sloss is a lot more historic and a lot more picturesque and a lot more interesting than a typical modern cement plant. It is also a good event spot. They arent comparable. The Powell Avenue Steam Plant is another example of an old piece worthy of hanging on to for similar reasons.

I know these lists are totally arbitrary, but still cool to be on them:

Birmingham might as well be Deontay's hometown. The city has really supported him, and he has brought lots of international attention to the city with his fights.

Here is a cool quote from the article!

"The championship bout will be Wilder’s fourth in Birmingham and his third straight at Legacy Arena. This will make four heavyweight title defenses in one city in 20 months, a distinction that even Las Vegas does not have."

Hopefully this is a formality and a precursor for when Obama signs the proclamation.
