I saw a lot of those t-shirts in my neighborhood over the past few days.

But it's just outrageous that the JCC can't host a national event without worrying about idiot cranks. We were longtime members of the JCC (We're not Jewish, but it's a great deal. What's more, I can't go to church on Sunday morning and spend Sunday brunch at a country club that has discrimination etched into its by-laws), and we were amazed at the kind of security measures they would have to have in place. The only silver lining? Evidently, according to people I know there in the JCC leadership, others elsewhere have to contend with a lot worse.

But, yes, a very positive thing.

Yeah, it's a shame that ignorance is still so common in 2017.

Which CC's is it that is Jewish only? Or is one only for Non Jews? I too cannot believe that any club can get a way with being selective of membership based on race.

There are tons of clubs and organizations that are based on race. Not saying it's right or wrong, but that's reality.

Pinetree is not Jewish only, but it was founded by Jews. There are still a few that are that way, although I know Birmingham Country Club deigned to admit Condoleeza Rice. So essentially, if you're an African-American, you have to be a former NSA and Secretary of State in order to be admitted. My grandfather was a charter member at Vestavia, so his member is hereditary. When my father passed away, my mom offered it to me. I declined because of a) the discrimination aspect of it, b) I despise golf with a purple passion, and c) country club cuisine isn't my idea of good food. She's still ticked off about that.

JCC stands for Jewish Community Center. The centers are open to everyone. The JCC Maccabi program is 100% designed for Jewish kids. Everything spoken about and taught is Judaism and Israel related. It is not just about the games.

Right but which country clubs will not allow certain races? Isn't Mountain Brook CC non-Jewish only? Or do I have it backwards./

A private club can do whatever it wants.

Then why have places like Shoal Creek been sued in the past for not letting in certain members?
