Turbos are a expensive thing to give trouble plus they are hot and cook everything under the hood.
The manufacturers are going with little tiny engines with a turbo to meet Ossama Obamas ridiculous gas mileage requirements for so called global warming.
The reason car mfg use turbos is to give good mpg while maintaining high HP ratings. If they wanted good mpg, a turbo does not save gas. It can give you 300HP without adding more weight and with the right programming they can keep the turbo off with normal driving.
I do not know for the price of a new 3-series one can get E39 M5 performance in the 2016/2017 Chevy SS although it lacks the prestige it still one vehicle that mighrt be the best drivers Sedan bang for the buck and give many great smiles per mile.

e39 m5 is a great car...almost legendary...but its an 18 year old technology comparing to a modern car.
BMW has got to do something about their dated styling. They just look old and tacky. Audi had the same problem (looking old, at least they didn't look tacky) a few years back, but now produce some truly stunning cars.

The German big 3 (Audi, BMW, Mercedes) are styling all their cars to look the same, just bigger as you step up in price. For a non-enthusiast they probably couldn't tell the difference between 3 vs 5 , C vs E, or A4 vs A6

What do you call then new Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro? You can't get more dated than revamping something from 1968!!!
I think the early 2000's were the best years for BMW. They had style, great driving feel, and relative simplicity. After that, styling took a nose dive and the cars started becoming overly complicated.
I would like to see a few picture at different angles before passing judgement on the styling, but BMWs don't really pique my interest these days.
I so totally agree. They had the best looking combination of muscle and elegance.
I dont much like the re-design. Sometimes its best to let a good thing be. But then again, its just my taste.
The next-generation BMW G20 3 Series is rumored to feature a radical and fresh design, and it’s set to arrive in 2018. Sources say the G20 3 Series will feature some cutting edge design lines, with more sculpted surfaces than the current generation and more luxurious looks. The use of chrome is an interesting choice since it denotes both a sporty and premium design.
