Christmas in Boise, where to start......how about here first:

Downtown Boise Association - Christmas in the City

Don't forget to check out the light show all around town. Start out with a stop at a favorite coffee shop to get a hot cup of java and head out to the Quail Ridge subdivision, home to the president of Idaho Power, who puts on a beautiful light display at Christmas time. You'll have to get out of your car for this one as there is so much to see. Another hot spot is the subdivision of Bayhill Springs off of Ustick. Drive through this mecca of holiday cheer and be greeted by what seems to be almost every household decorated with Christmas lights. Of course driving down Harrison Blvd will have some beautiful holiday lights to look at. Don't forget to swing by the State Capitol to view the enormous holiday tree all decked out on the steps. I'm sure there are many other neighborhoods that have beautiful lights, but these will get you started and keep you busy for a while.

Also noteworthy is the Idaho Botanical Gardens:

Looking for something different? Try Boguscreek outfitters for a unique experience- a sleighride up by Bogus Basin to a warm cabin with good food and cowboy entertainment. If you're thinking about this one call right now as all the weekends sell out very quickly. They open up the reservations just about this time.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Downtown is great in December. I would recomend getting a hotel right in downtown, and head up to Bogus some day.

Bogus usually gets pretty busy - try looking into holiday packages at Brundage or Tamarack.

Also, stick around downtown. It's not necessarily magical, but it is a nice experience. The Botanical Gardens is highly recommended, as is driving Harrison and Warm Springs Blvd. to look at Xmas lights.

Avoid (at all costs) the west side of town, the connector, and Fairview/Cole/Milwaukee, especially the few days before Christmas.
