I don't even think it's possible with an infinite bid due to regulations protecting US IP. I think it would be very foolhardy to give up our last DRAM manufacturer as well as a damn good non-Volatile memory maker. Any short term profits for executives and banks involved would be cancelled out by our exit of the market. Also, I think Intel might have something to say even though they seem to sell out to foreign entities too regarding jobs and manufacturing too.
But I do admit even the though/gual of Tsinghua making a bid makes my blood boil.
What's going on these days with MRAM? Micron built itself via buying other companies over the last decade and a half. I wonder if they smell a shake out due to greater need for universal memory? If they don't wish to invest the $$$ to change their development, maybe they would look to selling? Or a joint venture?
I don't necessarily care who owns the company as long as it stays in Boise but its nice to keep as many companies in idaho and the US as possible and it makes sense to sometimes have locations abroad to reap the benefits of those areas wealth
