We finally made it out to Caldwell to eat at AMANO. Fantastic food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance. It's on the pricier side, don't have the typical family style Mexican restaurant in mind. Instead, think fine dining that's true to the flavors and ingredients of Mexico. Different in a good way, will be back again for date night.

Also, another interesting food truck coming to Boise: Vietnamese Basque fusion. I mean, why not, sounds amazing. https://boisedev.com/news/2023/05/11/basqueunese-boise/

Amano isn't cheap, looks kind of hipsterish.

The Basque/Vietnamese food truck is definitely fascinating and I put that on my calendar.

Looks like the Meridian In N Out will finish construction Sep 2023. Figuring it will take them 6 months to staff up, pencil in March 2024 for grand opening.

I'll tell you this much. If you like beef ribs (I don't eat pork) there is NOBODY but nobody that can touch Goodwood. Their beef ribs are simply out of this world. I ate at Cheesecake Factory recently and it certainly was good. Their menu is crazy huge. If you can't find something there to eat you can't read the menu. LOL

Mexican food encompasses a vast range and what's considered "good" differs by region even within the US. SoCal vs. NorCal vs AZ vs NM vs TX... depends on one's expectations. So take this with a big gain of salt

AMANO is in a class of its own. Upscale and unique.

For family style sit down we've had great meals at Andrade's (Overland Rd), El Mariachi Loco (Star), and Casa Mexico (Hyde Park).

Good basics: Carniceria Coalcoman, Tacos El Rey, Taqueria Las Brazas, El Chavo

White people resort style: Parrilla Grill and Tin Roof Tacos

These are just a few of the places we've liked in the Boise area, lots more in Nampa and Caldwell that we haven't explored, but my sense is that the Mexican food overall is better in these areas.

ETA: The other day I drove past Lorena's Mexican Grill on Fairview and it looks like the kinda hole in the wall place I love. Haven't gotten around to trying it, interested to hear if anyone here has been.

Any good breakfast places? I've already tried The Griddle, Moe Joe's Breakfast Eatery and Panera. What I'm interested in is a really excellent Belgian waffle.
