Stephen's King Dreamcatcher has been with me since highschool and I dunno why I haven't found a time yet to finish reading it. Lol!

As a child my father gave me his copies of The Hardy Boys (which he obtained during the 1930s). Those are the books I have owned the longest (going close to 50 years).

I've had my copy of "Little Women" since I was about 8 or 9
Sveral paperback copies of the "Peanuts" collection I got for my 10th birthday
A few "Dark Shadows" paperbacks I bought with my allowance also when I was about 10

My niece and nephew have all those Scholastic Book Service books I had when I was in elementary school. My niece was reading the 1960s version of "If You Lived In Colonial Times" the last time I saw her!

Probably this Time Life series on animals that I got as a boy. There might be something I've had longer than that.

In fiction I think it would be "What Might Have Been: Alternate Americas." An alternate history anthology in a fairly cheap paperback form.

I have had a copy of "Gone with the Wind" since I was much younger... over 25 years! I treasure that book. I have been building a collection of books ever since obtaining that volume, so now I am happy to say that I have many more wonderful books. I collect mostly classics, but I have others in my collection as well. I love to read! It's my favorite way to spend free time!

Well I've still got my Sweet Valley High (probably 60 or so) & R.L. Stine Fear Street (probably 40 or so) books that 1st got me into reading back in like (1993) 6th grade.
I've also got my Diane Hoh Nightmare Hall (only like 10 or so) books from elementry school. Those are all softback.

I think also still have my baby books that my mom used to read to me. Some of those were mine & some were my brother's, who is 10 years older than I am, but I always thought they were all mine. Those are mostly hardback with a few softies in there.

The only one that stands out to me is a paperback copy of Where the Red Fern Grows. I have had that since I was five or six; my mom read it to me as a bed time story once, and I've loved it ever since.

I still have the books I had as a child... I keep every book, I just can't toss them away or give them!

Hmmm...the book I've owned the longest is a Grey's Anatomy textbook that my father used in medical school when I was very small. I remember being maybe four or five and sitting on the floor 'reading' that book and looking at all the cutaway drawings of the human body. I also have a basic surgical textbook from him that was another one of my favorites once I was about six and could actually sound out words.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Second printing, 1944.

It belonged to my aunt, who gave it to me.
