I am a male, old, and I discovered in the Sci Fiction / Fantasy section of my local bookstore an author Rachelle Mead. She seems to have combined Fantasy / mild erotic / romance / supernatural along with a touch of humor to keep the pace of the plots moving right along.
But here's the thing.... Fantasy and Romance type novels are all about make-believe right? I mean, vampire, succubus, demons, and such are as believable as extra good looking hard body with six pack abs who are unattached, hetro, heads-on-straight nice guys, and ultra sensitive and supportive to a young woman's professional career plus helps with the household chores, this is also believable, right?
BTW: about as much "literary Meaning" as watching a rerun of your favorite "Friends" TV episode, and just as likely to trigger junk food cravings.
Jackie Collins is great for a long-haul flight or a day at the beach when you don't want to use up too many brain cells. I don't know that I'd call her writing 'erotic'..more like 'raunchy'. 'Erotic' would be something like 'The Story of O' or the Anne Rice 'Sleeping Beauty' novels. But one persons eroticism is anothers' er.....hmmm.
The only thing I get hot for when I read Collins is champagne. Her characters are continually drinking it which leaves me extremely thirsty. (as opposed to hot and bothered).

Reason: thinking about champagne too much.
Sorry, I didn't mean Jackie's books were mushy gushy. Hers always have a better story (stories) than most "romance" books. I was just somewhat surprised that I haven't read one in so many years.
