Any suggestions for some newer SciFi that has lots of sci and not much sex and politics?

What are you already familiar with? David Weber's Honor Harrington series has lots of sci and action.

Not new, but David Brin's Startide Rising is a great action/adventure tale with lots of scool science fiction elements. I've never liked anything else he wrote, but SR is fantastic.

Ian Douglas (aka William H Keith) has a lot of scifi trilogies.
I really liked the Heritage Trilogy, Legacy Trilogy, and Inheritance Trilogy. Read em in order lol, it's basically 9 books in one series about space Marines.
He's just starting on a new series, first book was Bloodstar, and the second one will be out next fall. This one is going with space Marine medics.
