How is the brewery area of Jamaica Plain? Is it safe? Would going for a jog in the evening be a bad idea?

Thanks.

Not overly dangerous, but not great either. Thats kinda a border where JP starts to get Roxbury-ish

I don't care for that pocket, even though trendy Bella Luna (sp?) pizza cafe relocated there from another part of JP. Mike's Gym is also there (kind of hip and gay-friendly?). Also, the police station is around the corner, as is Bel Canto (artisan bread & bakery).

Still, it feels kind of creepy at night; plus, I hate all the graffiti on the storefronts and street furniture.

Default Good for a run

I live a couple blocks from the Brewery on the orange line. The Southwest Cooridor Parkway, which runs from Forest Hills to Back Bay (right past the Brewery) is an awesome route for an evening jog (though watch out for cyclists and dog-walkers). Franklin Park (behind the Brewery area), despite its seedy reputation, is also a very nice locale for jogging.

For the five years I've lived in Boston I've been running all over the city. While I dont run at midnight, I've found that, when your running, no one is going to bother you no matter where you are.
